Level I: IASTM Fundamentals

Intermediate

This live, 8-hour certification course covers the basic skills necessary to safely begin utilization of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques as a Certified HawkGrips Practitioner (cert. HGP-I). In this introductory skills-acquisition course, participants will receive hands-on instruction in the proper use of HawkGrips instruments through a lab-focused teaching format. The course will address proper instrument selection to address body contours and reach target tissues.

Prior to the live course, attendees will participate in an online course covering the research and fundamentals of HawkGrips techniques through narrated videos. The online prerequisite course includes watching two videos and taking a short quiz.

After successful completion of the 8-hour live course, attendees will take an online final exam for certification.

Level II: Advanced IASTM
Advanced

This live, 8-hour HawkGrips Therapy certification course builds on the principles covered in the Level I: IASTM Fundamentals course. Using a case-study, lab-focused teaching format, advanced treatment strokes are introduced and problem-solving skills are emphasized. This course includes the utilization of motion and multi-regional treatment concepts.

Prior to the live course, attendees will complete an online course reviewing the research and fundamentals of HawkGrips Therapy techniques through a narrated video. The course includes watching one video, taking a short quiz, and completing a worksheet on a case study that will be reviewed in the live course.

After successful completion of the 8-hour live course, attendees will take an online final exam for Level II Certification (cert. HGP-II).

Prerequisite: Level I: IASTM Fundamentals OR a comparable 8-hour introductory course.

FMT RockPods

Cupping Certification(Tools provided)

FMT RockPods Certification introduces the concept of skin/fascial decompression to help improve tissue mobility, improve movement and modulate pain* with the use of myofascial cups. This course will cover the anatomy, physiology and neurology of the effects of myofascial cupping on connective tissue gliding, tissue traction and tissue decompression. Interventions with cupping (RockPods) will be reviewed based on the literature and integrated into current rehabilitative concepts. 

FMT RockPods explores the science of tissue gliding, traction and decompression with easy to use myofascial cups. RockPods are one of the latest additions to the RockTape tool arsenal to better equip each clinician and therapist to deliver superior patient and client outcomes.

FMT RockPods Certifications are intended for health and fitness professionals. CEUs may be offered for DC, ATC, PT, LMTs, LAc, OT and personal trainers – depending on location and class type. FMT Certified professionals receive an additional 10% discount on most of the RockTape product line after taking a class.

FMT RockPods Certification will explore skin and fascial decompression with myofascial cups by evaluating the dermal and fascial systems.  Interventions with cupping (RockPods) will be reviewed based on the literature and integrated into current rehabilitative concepts.

This 6-hour certification course is intended for practitioners and therapists with a basic understanding of soft tissue techniques. All supplies needed for the course are provided. There are no prerequisites for FMT RockPods.

At the conclusion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Define, understand and integrate the myofascial sequencing model
  • Discover and explore neuroanatomy of the dermal & fascial subsystem
  • Recognize and demonstrate a novel skin/fascial/movement screening process
  • Describe and interpret the research as it relates to connective tissue gliding, pain* modulation, and movement therapies.
  • Define, practice, and integrate banded floss techniques related soft tissue pathology as it relates to tension/decompression, direction, external cueing and pressure.
  • Compare, contrast and perform various methods of current rehabilitative treatment techniques with RockPods.

Trauma Course Description: 

Trauma-informed ethical therapist recognizes:

  • The widespread impact of trauma
  • Understands potential paths for recovery
  • Signs and symptoms of trauma in your clients
  • Actively seeks to resist and refrain from re-traumatization

If your client has ever experienced touch to be forbidden, abusive, laced with malevolence or manipulation; they may not have developed a strong sense of self or safety, or an appreciation for healthy therapeutic boundaries of safe touch. This makes body work a very uncomfortable idea to get on board with and can also be the reason it is unsuccessful.  Trauma Awareness and Sensitivity (TAS) course offers techniques and ethics education that a manual therapist can utilize. It will demonstrate to the client close attention, acknowledgment and respect so that the client will come to trust the process. This will help the client acquaint or re-acquaint themselves with normal body signals and make your body work sessions more successful.

Students will:

  • Increase their knowledge base, sensitivity, and awareness of trauma survivors and unique issues faced by the LGBTQAI+ community.
  • Learn integrate -able techniques that facilitate healing in those that have been injured by emotional trauma.
  • Apply best business practices that facilitate safe and equal access to all.
